The Wellington St project is progressing very well.  With Bowden Corp and NPG Project Management, we have a dedicated team of Builders and Consultants delivering a quality project.  The first floor slab is now completed, the concrete stairs have been poured, building services are being roughed in, and the stud walls to the ground floor have commenced. It is starting to look like a building! We expect the roof to be started in October.

This building represents the future focus of St Kilda Community Housing. We are committed to continuing our focus on housing the most vulnerable people in our community and tackling local homelessness. It is the first step in our goal to expand our housing offer to many more vulnerable people, whilst also improving our existing stock, some of which is coming to the end of its useful life.

At completion next year, Wellington Street Common Ground (WSCG) will provide permanent supportive housing to twenty-six long term rough sleepers from within the local community. This well designed building alongside ongoing support and concierge services funded by the State government, will offer the chance of safety, stability and and a solid base for people to rebuild their lives.

Homelessness and rough sleeping can be solved. The commitment of our partners at City of Port Phillip and Homes Victoria, and the ongoing support they have offered this project proves it. WSCG will have a hugely positive impact to twenty-six people currently forced to live out their private lives in public, to local rough sleeper numbers, and to the local community as a whole.
