Identifying & Responding to Family Violence

Family violence can affect your safety and housing
If this is happening to you, you can speak to SCH. We will consider your safety, housing needs and tenancy options, and may connect you with specialist services where needed.

How we can help
We will consider:

  • your safety
  • your housing needs
  • what you want to happen next.

We may also work with specialist family violence services or other agencies to help support your safety and housing.

Depending on your situation, other SCH policies may also apply. For example, you may be able to ask about a transfer, financial hardship support or other tenancy options.

Your information
We will handle information about family violence carefully. In some situations, SCH may need to ask for, use or share information with other services. This will only happen where we are allowed or required to do so under family violence and child information-sharing rules.

Our approach
We aim to respond in a way that is:

  • respectful
  • sensitive
  • safe
  • suitable for your individual needs.
