Pet Policy

Keeping a pet
You need SCH’s permission before you bring or keep a pet at your property.

To apply, complete a Pet Application Form. You need a separate application for each pet. If you already have a pet when applying for housing, please tell us before you move in where possible.

How we assess your request
We will look at whether the pet is suitable for your home and shared areas.

We may consider:

  • the type, size and behaviour of the pet
  • how many pets already live at the property
  • possible noise, hygiene or safety issues
  • the effect on other residents
  • local council rules and SCH House Rules.

We will tell you the outcome in writing. Conditions may be added to an approval.

If your pet is approved
You are responsible for your pet. You must make sure your pet:

  • is properly cared for
  • does not cause damage, excessive noise or hygiene problems
  • does not create a safety risk
  • follows council rules and any conditions set by SCH.

If problems continue, SCH may take further action.

Assistance animals are not covered by this policy.
