St Kilda Community Housing (SCH) is strengthening the pathway from rough sleeping into permanent housing through a new two-year partnership with the City of Port Phillip.
The City of Port Phillip have funded St Kilda Community Housing to help connect people on the Port Phillip Zero By Name List with secure housing, while providing support to help them establish and sustain their tenancy. The program aims to house approximately 24 people over the next two years.
Connecting people with the right home
As part of the initiative, Danielle Baldwin has taken on the role of Housing Allocation Specialist at SCH, working closely with the City of Port Phillip Service Coordination Team, SCH’s Housing tenancy team and local homelessness services.
Danielle will help assess referrals, coordinate applications and match people with suitable homes as they become available. She will also help strengthen communication between SCH, referring services and other partners supporting people experiencing homelessness.
Finding the right housing match is about more than filling a vacancy. Individual circumstances, support needs and the dynamics of each property all need to be considered. Danielle’s role will help strengthen the connection between people identified through Port Phillip Zero By Name List and match them with suitable vacancies at St Kilda Community Housing.
Supporting people to stay housed
SCH will work with local services to provide a coordinated response for people moving out of homelessness.
Over the next two years, SCH and the City of Port Phillip will work together towards a shared goal: reducing rough sleeping and helping more people in our local community find a safe, secure and permanent place to call home.
