Wellington Street Common Ground Project Update

Recent community conversations around safety in our neighbourhood have reminded us just how vital the Wellington Street project really is. Too often, rough sleepers are unfairly blamed for having nowhere safe to live—and homelessness is wrongly equated with antisocial behaviour. It’s simply not true.

When this building opens, it will stand as clear proof that providing safe, permanent housing is the essential first step in creating a safer, more welcoming community for all of us.

The build itself is progressing beautifully and remains on track for completion in August. The self-contained studio apartments are nearly finished and looking fantastic. Very soon, the final cladding will be installed on the façade, and we’re excited to see how seamlessly the building integrates into the local streetscape.

Behind the scenes, we’ve begun sourcing furniture and white goods to make each unit feel like a true home from day one. If you or someone you know might be interested in supporting this next stage—through donations or partnerships—we’d love to hear from you.

Together, we’re creating something truly transformative.
