Wellington Street Common Ground Project Update

The Wellington Street Common Ground project is now rapidly transforming from architectural plans to a tangible beacon of hope. With roof sheeting and box gutters now in place, the building has quickly emerged from the ground, taking on the promising form of new homes.

Our partnership with Bowden Corp has been nothing short of exceptional. They’ve gone above and beyond, demonstrating a deep understanding that this project is far more than just another construction job. The Bowden team has actively embraced the project’s social impact, recognising that these walls will soon shelter 26 individuals who have experienced long-term homelessness—each person with a unique story of resilience and potential.

Community interest has been overwhelming, and Bowden Corp has responded beautifully by facilitating site visits that allow supporters to witness the transformation firsthand. Their commitment extends beyond traditional building practices, reflecting a genuine appreciation for the project’s broader purpose.

In the coming two months, the pace of progress will accelerate dramatically. We’re looking forward to key milestones including:

• Window installations that will flood the spaces with natural light

• Solar panel placement to ensure energy efficiency

• Plant structure implementations

• Commencement of external facade work

From the rooftop, the view is breathtaking—so much so that our team is already playfully discussing the potential of a rooftop garden in future projects. While we may have missed that opportunity this time, it’s a pleasing reminder of the creativity and forward-thinking that drives our work.

This building represents more than construction. It’s a pathway to stability, dignity, and renewed hope for 26 individuals ready to write their next chapter.

We’re grateful to our partners, supporters, and the community for making this transformative project possible. Every dollar donated supports our work to provide more and better homes. Thank you.
