We’re proud to share a transformative new initiative that is already changing lives for our renters.
Thanks to the generosity and partnership of the Concordia Initiative, we are now rolling out free, high-speed broadband across all of our housing properties, ensuring that every renter has access to fast, stable internet, at no cost, permanently.
In little over a week half our portfolio has been connected and over 150 people have access to this life changing service. At the rate this rollout is progressing, the entire St Kilda Community Housing network will be digitally connected by mid-June.
This project recognises that in today’s world, access to the internet is not a luxury but a necessity. Yet some of our renters have been paying over $85 a month for slow, unreliable plans, or going without altogether. Through this partnership, we’re eliminating that barrier and providing access to the tools and services that most of us take for granted.
Why this matters – With this new connectivity, our renters can now:
- Access essential healthcare and government services
- Search and apply for jobs
- Engage in online education and skill-building
- Stay connected with family and support networks
- Participate in community and civic life
- Stream, learn, apply, and thrive
This initiative is about more than just technology. It’s about equity, dignity, and opportunity. It’s a practical step that supports long-term housing stability by helping renters stay informed, engaged, and connected.
Our sincere thanks go to the team at the Concordia Initiative for making this possible, and for their unwavering belief in St Kilda Community Housing, and in the power of access and inclusion.
Together, we’re providing people with the tools to change their circumstances.
