Our partnership with Ngwala Willumbong Co-operative represents more than just a collaborative effort—it’s a powerful testament to community-driven support and meaningful social change. As a local Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisation (ACCO), Ngwala has long been a cornerstone of support for numerous community providers, championing the needs of Aboriginal communities with unwavering dedication.
A few months ago, our partnership evolved into something truly remarkable. By aligning our strengths, we’ve created a powerful pathway to housing and healing. Ngwala identified a critical need: providing stable housing for individuals transitioning out of rehabilitation. St Kilda Community Housing specialises in supporting disadvantaged singles with the lowest incomes—creating a perfect intersection of purpose.
The result is a holistic approach that goes beyond traditional housing support:
Men completing their recovery at Galliamble Recovery Centre now have enhanced access to permanent, safe, and affordable housing
Our organisation receives transparent, carefully considered referrals
Ngwala commits to ongoing support and intervention, ensuring a comprehensive approach to each individual’s journey
The early results are incredibly promising. More importantly, we’ve developed something far more valuable than a service agreement—we’ve built genuine trust and transparency. Each referral represents not just a housing placement, but a carefully considered opportunity for personal transformation.
Moving forward, we’re excited to explore additional ways our partnership can create meaningful impact. By combining our expertise and commitment, we’re not just providing housing—we’re supporting entire life journeys.
